Hip Dislocation

Hip dislocation, medically known as hip dysplasia, is a condition where the head of the hip joint is not in the correct position. It usually occurs in infancy and childhood. The cause is often congenital hip anomalies, birth trauma, or family history.

Symptoms include leg length discrepancies, asymmetry between the knees and heels, and a crossed leg position. Diagnosis is made through a physical examination and ultrasound or X-ray.

Mild cases are treated with a Pavlik brace and orthopedic rehabilitation. Moderate and severe cases may require surgery. Early diagnosis prevents complications and promotes hip development. Therefore, it is important to consult a specialist when symptoms of hip dislocation are noticed.
